I'm sure they'd be magical diseases.

Besides, Dash only had a broken wing, yet Doctor Caramel didn't just magically mend that. There must be limitations

Oh, I always thought those lyrics were from Velvet's song in FOE.

Dash recovered in a week. There was magic involved.

@Ginger: That, or so many patients, and so little magic? There's probably not enough healing unicorns to go around for everyone so they're reserved to the most severe cases. Like new arrivals to the ER that need to be stabilized.

Doc Caramel was RIGHT there. Magic can turn Rocks into top hats yet it can't fix a fracture in a heartbeat?

Or are you saying that the doctor can't magically heal people?

Magic... so many rules [lol]

@Ginger: Magically-fuelled cancer might be a medical risk. Regen magic would only fuel the cancer more. (A topic taken from one of the early Magic: The Gathering novels, it was an explanation from Archmage Jodah on why magic could not be used for all medical treatments.)

There's also the risk of allergy to magical medical treatments.

As much as I hate to quote Twilight it does bring a good point on quick regeneration versus broken bones.

Bones need time to reset and to regrow in the proper position. If they are quickly healed through magic there is a good risk of the bones growing back wrong and would require rebreaking.

There was a Little Sister in Bioshock who broke her legs from a fall. They healed wrong and the scientists had to re-break her legs several times to set them back so they'd heal properly. OUCH.

Fast regen does have its drawbacks D:

well, long as the quick healing requires active usage and isn't just passive, then all you have to do is make sure the bone is set before using it.

[up] Exactly, and she was in a hospital.

No excuse for not using magic to fix her unless they CAN'T use it to fix her IMO

But what if their bodies are actually imbued with magic, and adding more magic to replace the damaged magic heals them?

Magically-reinforced splints :D Simple and effective, and if the patient is allergic to magical treatment, much less likely to get a reaction.

Well, I've just caught up with CRISIS: Equestria.

Wow, RD snapped. I guess starvation, everything going wrong, and Grayscale Force's influence were the main reasons for this...

Why do I get the feeling that the seeds of discord planted by the mean 6 are only going to get worse...

Now, What kind of spellcasting limitations are on the unicorns?

It seems that Unicorns need to learn their spells before they can cast them (In some cases their spells are learned innately, like rarities gem finding spell).

Twilight does read books all the time but she does not have to consult a spellbook to use magic on the fly.

It is shown that repetitive spellcasting or spellcasting of harder spells does tire her out over time.

EQ Daily alerted me to more comic goodness :D

Dexterity: Lyra notices Blossomforth [lol] (saucy?)

Trading Knowledge: Kinda morbid there, Luna [lol]

@Steve: Casting seems to be stamina-based rather than mana based. Twi is so powerful she exhausts her body quickly when casting big or difficult spells.
