Ha. I remember when I was in second grade, the teacher had part of the day set aside for reading out loud, and she read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (inb4 Ginger complains about Americans).

I would tell my mom about what happened in the book on the car rides home, but she wasn't quite aware I was talking about the book - when I talked about Harry's mistreatment and the hand-me-downs she thought I was talking about a classmate, and she's all "well some families are poor and have to use hand-me-downs."

Then I get to the more magical parts and she's all "wait, what?"

@Ginger: I have no doubt that if we wanted to discuss pony porn in the thread the discussion would be more or less entirely civil, but I just don't think it's an appropriate topic here, simply out of respect for the people who would rather not see the characters sexualized to that degree. And that's all I'm going to say about it.
