There really isn't any direct correlation in size to quality, but some fics get lots of attention just due to size.

As for the shipping thing, the reason it interests me isn't because I think certain pairings are likely to happen, but because I find it interesting to think of those kinds of hypothetical scenarios and see how the cast would react in those situations. For example, my favorite pairing is probably Applejack/Twilight. It has nothing to do with any kind of ship tease in the show itself (there's very little, if any, that involves them), but I like it because I think that if they were in a relationship, it would lead to interesting character interaction.

[up]Goodnight.

@ J Teeth see THAT i understand, it's all this Ship-to-Ship Combat, etc.. all the people that freak out when there personal favorite ship isn't present...or who go apeshit over ANY romance between established characters or even Cannon and OC, that I don't get.

Well I don't normally identify with the romance stuff, so it's just boring to me.

I generally dislike shipping on principle. Shippers ruin everything.

@colin Maybe it will end up getting mentioned but, as far as I know, Applejack and Rarity were the only members of the Mane Six living in Ponyville at the time.

i'm not really a big fan of it in general, but I just judge everything on a case by case basis.

@Seraphem: Yeah, I don't really get that militant kind of shipping either. I'm just interested in what implications it has for the characters.

I should probably go to bed too. Bon Bon doesn't like it when I go to bed too late because I always wake her up.

@Cheerilee: Aren't AJ and Rarity younger than you? You said the raid happened when you were a filly, so I don't think they would now by experience of the raid.

About shipping; I don't mind it in the "what if" sense. However, I have heard of shipping going into extreme level in many fandoms.

Edit: Ninja'd by sleeping people.

I like shipping as long as you're not crazy about it.

Everything in life needs moderation, and the fandoms that Pannic mentioned a good example of what happens when the, frankly, idiotic young teens and preteens don't moderate their hobby.

Shipping is generally tolerable in ponydom, though I prefer to keep it controlled, i.e. not in what I'm reading.

Other fandoms go batshit bonkers with it, though - Harry Potter, Glee, Avatar, Naruto...

@What: Why is that video so mesmerizing? They're just bobbing, but it's so cute. Anyway, I forgot about that. In my head cannon, the mane six were younger than Cheerilee for some reason.

Maybe it's a minimalist piece.

And really, who wants diamonds in their cake?

Well. Maybe I would. Cause then I could take the diamonds and sell them. It'd make eating the cake a pain, though.

I don't mind shipping. I have dealt with rabid fandoms before in other respects. If it adds to the story (Or adds comedic moments) then I am fine detracts from the story then I treat it like all other things that detract from a story. Then again I am a pretty tolerant person.

I imagine them being either the same age or maybe younger, but not by much. Like she's maybe a year or two ahead of them at most.
