@Bluespade: I think it's less thoughtlessness and more assuming that Gilda could actually, you know, take a joke. The big difference between RD and Gilda is that when RD got pranked, she just laughed it off. I mean, none of the pranks were really that bad.

EDIT: Pagetopper.

Well, just saw the episode with Gilda. I don’t think I ever saw her when she came to Ponyville. Too bad she was such a jerk, but…

Rainbow Dash=20% Cooler. Gilda=10x as Cool. Kinda surprised that didn't go memetic.

[up][up] Yeah, I think so too. I only said thoughtlessness because Rainbow ought to know that Gilda is really thin-skinned, if they're such good friends. But she probably hasn't seen her in a long time.

Yeah, Dash specifically says she set up all the pranks. Minus Pinkie's hoof buzzer I suppose.

@Bluespade: This is still a children's show, so childish interest from the characters are to be expected to a certain extent. Then again I made a similar comment/criticism about all of the adults in Ponyville Confidential so what do I know.

[up]Might also have to do with her thinking that it was all Pinkie's idea.

[up][up][up]My guess is that RD and Gilda liked to play pranks back in flight camp or something. RD probably remembers that, and since she doesn't mind getting targeted, she probably assumes that Gilda wouldn't mind either.

I think pranks were such problem because Gilda sees pranks and use them differently than Pinkie or Rainbow. Those two ponies sees pranks as fun for both sides of prank, but Gilda sees pranks as something what is fun for prankster at somebody expense. That why she reacted during party. She saw this as hostile behavior.

Like most of the early episodes, that one jumped back and forth from being good to being kind of weak. But it was fun enough some of the time to be watchable. I remember still not being at all sure I was going to keep watching when I first saw it, and I had already decided I hated Pinkie, but this episode is the first time I decided she wasn't automatically despicable. I was willing to watch it just for Dash at the time. Welp, on to the next one.

Yeah, I'm with Death. Pinkie and Dash see pranks as something to laugh off, while Gilda uses them to assert social dominance (I figure power dynamics play a huge role in gryphon society). She's used to being the biggest, baddest and the bitch on top of the pile, and the pranks were direct slaps in the face to that idea, as far as she cared.

Spike's mustache looks photoshopped. I can tell because of the pixels.

[up]Gilda strikes me as a basically decent teenager who tries way too hard to look cool and freaks out if anything damages her carefully crafted persona. Except for the thieving business.

Gilda saw the pranking as a form of revenge and/or torment against others that she can get away with as it does not physical harm the target. That's my theory on why she likes to prank others but is highly hostile when its done upon her.

This episode has good music at the start. Also, sudden Cutie Mark exposition.

Snips and Snails are just annoying. I'm glad they're not around anymore.

[up][up][up]She strikes me as just generic jerk and bully. Only cool thing about her is fact that she is Griffon.

Mmmmm, throughout all of Trixie's intro, she doesn't actually use any magic, only stage tricks. Good foreshadowing.

Okay, so a performer gathers a crowd to entertain, and then all the mane characters start complaining that she's just showing off? Um, she's an entertainer, if they don't like it, why are they watching?

Hey, you know how you guys were all talking about Hoofington earlier? Trixie just mentioned it, it's where she supposedly vanquished the Ursa Major.

AJ and Rarity just love heckling ponies.

Rainbow didn't even appear to have a problem with it until AJ did.

Rainbow's trick was pretty cool, especially how she summoned that rainbow.

I'm thoroughly on Trixie's side here, which indicates some pretty poor writing.

Every time Trixie "showed up" one of the others, her tricks were always less impressive than there's, but she did her's in a more showman style and made the others look bad, so the crowd cheered for her. Trixie's got smarts.

Rarity freaking out about green hair: I have noticed there is a disproportionately small number of ponies with green hair/coats throughout the show.

Trixie could have easily shown them up without physically accosting them and humiliating them. It's also a very poor showmare who actually responds to audience criticisms with such an attitude, if they respond at all. Audience members are allowed to complain, it's what they do.

Trixie really wasn't in the right at all there, IMO.
