I wouldn't be surprised if there was a character named Apple Pie. The other pairings wouldn't work nearly as well though. At least they're not Renesme.

I don't think Twilight and Fluttershy get shipped often because they're both typically low-key enough that it wouldn't be very interesting. In every other case they'd bounce off each other a bit more.

Rainbow, Pinkie and Rarity.

Pinkie's obvious she's the most adventurous. Rainbow wouldn't be able to handle hampered flying. Rarity and AJ could probably go either way actually. I just arbitrarily picked Rarity.

Ginger: Like heroic adventure stories, sex is usually overly romanticized. Not to mention only a small part of a healthy relationship.

EDIT: Also, just because a couple clones or adopts, doesn't mean they can't do recreational sex. Plus they can be more wild if they don't have to worry about accidental pregnancy.
