I liked Zhao, but he still wasn't particularly competent.
I still don't get why everyone was so afraid of Silver Spoon. Is it purely because of the radiation?

That WOULD'VE been awesome if it wasn't ruined by Iroh going berserk on him a second later.
I loved his hammy speech when he captured the spirit though

Iroh going berserk didn't change anything though. Even though he took out those guards the fish was still dead, the Waterbenders were about to lose. It took literally divine intervention to defeat Zhao's plan.

@Bad it isn't only actions that I look for, it's attitude and posture. Zhao may have succeeded in his plan, but he didn't
LOOK triumphant. He was forced to flee to save his skin from Iroh and the Gaang.
He didn't get a moment where he LOOKED like he was in complete control

Why should he need to? I'd rather a villain be pragmatic and successful than be confident, seemingly in control, but lose due their own overconfidence.
I'm not very villainish, but I will admit a fondness for orbital bombardments and the odd Superweapons (break glass in case of emergency).
@ Ginger: True. He did have the moment where he put the fish in the bag but after that he personally was constantly close to the ropes even if his plan was otherwise succeeding.

@Lurker but that's just it. He shouldn't be in a position where he should feel the need to BE cautious. Not if his plan has just succeeded.
can't he be both successful AND confident?
