I questioned the logic of scaring them away with scary looking trees,
Especially when The Movie had real killer trees!
Rarity was annoying from the beginning,

yup, as many flaws as it had, the pilot had all the seeds of a great show, and the showrunners did NOT let them go to waste.

Well, I've rewatched it now (not that I haven't rewatched it many times before). I really enjoyed it. Interesting that we first saw all three of Cadance's bridesmaids in Canterlot and that they were all at Twilight's surprise party.
With the exception of Twilight, everypony seemed more enthusiastic than they are now.

The writers seem to have a hard time with pinkie and Rainbow Dash. On the other hand they seem to have a great time writing Rarity and Twilight Sparkle. I wonder why that is?
