Awesome ponies, and also Applejack!
And Applejack is here too!

Ok, derail: If you could hang out with any of the Mane 6 for one day, who would you pick?
I'd probably go with Twilight because we have the most in common. I'd like to hang out with Fluttershy as well, but she's too shy to make any conversation with.

Rarity. She seems to know a thing or too about being polite and respectable.
@Sky: Definitely Twilight.
As far as the characterization goes, I think the issue is that Pinkie and Dash just have more boisterous personalities, so it's easy to accidentally exaggerate them because they're both rather energetic to begin with. Twilight and Rarity are more reserved, so the writers are more likely to be careful when writing them.
Honestly, I find that the slight differences in how different writers portray the characters to composite into more rounded characters overall. If we only had one writer, then the same character traits would be far more likely be focused on repeatedly, rather than the differing perspectives we get. Thanks to that, I really don't get hung up on who writes what, especially since each of them has proven themselves perfectly capable (even Williams. One poor episode does not in any way ruin the other two fantastic ones she wrote.)
Oh I agree Lurker. It's just a few of them just go to far past how the rest portray them that it becomes OOC.

I only picked Twilight because she seemed the nicest.
Rarity - standards are too high, probably wouldn't like me
Rainbow Dash - too athletic
Fluttershy - too awkward
Pinkie Pie - cocaine personified
Applejack - we have nothing in common

My life is complete. I have seen a campy sea serpent IN GERMAN.

Eh... I can at least cut the list in half on a first go - I'd be down to Twilight, AJ or Rarity to hang with. AJ and I have a fair bit in common, of course, so it might be nice to spend time with her. To be honest she's the one I'm most likely to make a lasting friendship with because of similar values, even if our interests are different. Twilight is obvious, it'd be fun to just hang out and be nerdy. She's also the one it would be most difficult to spend time with, though, just because her hobbies are fairly singular. Although just chilling and talking is always an option.
And Rarity, what I imagine most people here consider to be a reason not to hang out with her(ie. the inevitable fashionista moments, trying to dress you up, etc.), I actually think might be sort of fun. I've long since gotten used to girls wanting to play with my hair, and I honestly sort of enjoy playing dress up on my own. I'm a man who appreciates class, after all. Which is another selling point, Rarity is someone I feel like I could be relaxed around, enjoy a nice cup of tea and just chat. And, of course, it could be fun to talk about stallions with her.
@Seraphem: All I need is a baby dragon and I'm set.
Don't make me fire Pinky's party cannon.

I agree with Perpetual Lurker.
As for Fluttershy, once she knows me, we'd probably get along well (which is why I'd marry her if she was real and human) but the getting to know her part might be difficult.
I'd battle to get along with Rarity and Rainbow Dash IRL and Applejack would be nice, but we don't have a lot in common.
