For me to say that kind of attitude is annoying is a gross understatement. As a feminist (and by that I mean someone who is pro-gender equality and hates stupid sexist stereotyping) I was pleasantly surprised to learn about the brony community. I personally think that in a society with sexist jerks like that guy around, it's much more tough and brave for a man to like traditionally "girly" things than to worry about seeming to be properly masculine.
Edit: So no one misinterprets me, what I meant by that last sentence is that it can often be harder to have hobbies or interests that go against what society thinks one should be interested in. I certainly don't think it's wrong for men to like traditionally masculine TV shows/movies either, just that they would face less social pressure than those who would watch something, like, say "My Little Pony." I think people should like whatever kind of media they want, whether it's "typical" for their gender or not.
Obviously whoever wrote that didn't watch Dragon Quest, because I got an impression that the episode was strongly hinting at a lesson of "it's okay and even a good thing for guys to like girly things" but I guess that guy would hate that episode along with the scenes of Spike playing with the wedding toppers.
Although that guy may not have actually watched the show, given that the picture in the article is from G3, so maybe he thinks it's still like those stories, which DO have unicorns making rainbows.
