Well try to stop worrying about your preferences so much, all they seem to do is make you miserable. You have a lot of weird exceptions to what you like, so they obviously aren't all that set in stone anyway. Watch some movies and try to focus on an aspect that you normally wouldn't, see if it appeals to you at all. And if not, it's just a movie, you aren't stuck in a series you don't find yourself enjoying. Hell, make a drinking game, every time something happens that bugs you take a shot.

@Mio Nope. It was a masterfully executed Batman Gambit by the main villain that ends up killing two of the main characters.

Yeah. He was my fav character and I was complaining throughout my read-through that he wasn't being given any awesome moments. Mage kept insisting that he had one coming up. I finally reached it with The Red Wedding and everyone else on the thread reacts like I'm some kind of monster

I tried reading ASOIAF once, up to a Storm of Blades (or something). I got lost in all the characters that were supposedly important and then get killed off before they could actually do anything.

I prefer to be able to read stories without having to take bloody notes on who is who, what they are trying to do and whether they are still alive or not.

Everyone cares about awesome villains. They just care a bit more about the hero's journey to defeat said villain.

Good villains create good conflict, put it's not much of a plot by itself.
