The usual. the worst of Mary Sues, Badly written (Or utterly flat) plots, Complete Character Derailments, Grimderp, OC bullshittery.

@colin Mary Sues (duh), Ron the Death Eater, Draco in Leather Pants and smut.

That's it really. I'm fine with everything else.

Oh and certain fics are held up to higher standards than other. I only read GOOD clopfics and Hi E fics.

You know those traditional racehorses they have in Mongolia (the ones with their manes tied into topknots)? I'd like to see pony versions of those on the show.

Colin: Mostly basic mistakes that cause major problems. It always irritates me to go into a 5 or 6 star fic and find out that despite the huge fanbase endorsement, it's got major pacing issues or the writing is wildly inconsistent or the narrative lapses into big passages of blatant telling instead of showing. I can overlook a few spellings and grammar mistakes and probably even some plot holes and minor pacing issues (assuming the rest of the story is good enough), but this type of stuff makes it look like the author didn't even bother to proofread his/her own work.

There's a large gap between things I don't care for in fics and things that are objectively bad in fics. I actually don't care for most shipping, and overly violent situations just clash with the overall tone of the show too much for my tastes, regardless of whether the resolution is happy or not. Bad writing is bad writing, though, and that can be pretty obvious regardless of genre or characters.

As to what I personally dislike in fanfics, probably most would be when the offspring in next-gen fics ALL have the same personalities as their parents. I don't mind a few of them acting like clones, but when they all do it's rather annoying and boring. If I'm reading next-gen fics I would be hoping to get to know some NEW characters, not just the old ones with new names.

Hey guys, I just checked the Characters page. Can anybody link the full-sized cast picture for Season 2?

I don't read many fanfics, but the very few I have, had the same problem. They don't feel like the genuine article that I am familiar with. This is usually when the characters act in ways that don't match with the original (especially apparent when there's swearing in a non-swearing product).

I have a general rule when it comes to fics: No shipping, No Tyrant/Mol/Trollestia, No Overuse of Swear Words, and especially no bloody Grimdark.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I can be horribly picky when it comes to fanfic (like ginger-level picky), even though most of it is just personal preferences. The main objective thing that bugs me is blatant OOC-ness.

Goshdarnit Twi, stop making me like you even more than I already do! (and I already like her a ton!)
