@ Sereg: Maybe make it so she can either save her mother or a number of Pegasi, otherwise she doesn't really have a reason to not save her mother. Or the other Pegasus was an important member of the resistance prior to capturing and releasing him would aid their goals massively.

Fires of Friendship is really the only way to defeat Permafrost isn't it? Unless they Summon Bigger Fish. Or find a way of weakening her. Perhaps use the Windigos against her?

@ Morality of Changelings: I think that Changelings like any other species can be good or bad depending on the individual. We've just only seen the bad because the good ones presumably wouldn't want to invade Equestria.
