I'm just hoping that it's posible for them to be good, and being born a change;ing doesn't doom you to evil.

As I said before, yes, I do believe that, in a species with free will, there will always be many different schools of thought.

Just rewatched part of Chrysalis's reveal; she does, in fact, say that her feeding on Shining Armor's love weakens him.

I'm fairly convinced that the queen was evil. She more or less imprisoned Twilight out of spite, and then taunted her. The rest of them, though? There's not reason they all have to be evil.

Agreed. The one fighting Pinkie Pie even seemed to want to impress her rather than fight her.

I don't think they're hive-minded. The drones showed clear signs of independent thought during the fight scene.

As such, I'm sure there are communities within the Changeling population who want to reject their parasitic way of life. I'm just wondering about how much success they can truly meet with.

Allow me to set the stage

They did make an unprovoked attack on an innocent city. They could have decent Changelings elsewhere who didn't want any part in the war of course.

Well, it is also possible that every changeling made the choice to be evil out of a massive coincidence. But if the choice was possible, then I'm OK.

And I really don't believe there's any question of Chrysalis being evil.

I don't think they're Always Chaotic Evil. In a group of creatures that can think, there is absolutely no way that they all think the same way.

Of course, Chrysalis's personal army wouldn't have any such dissenters in it, which is why they wouldn't be seen at all during the big fight.

Oh, chrysalis was having a good deal of fun with it, but she's one pony. And I'm not saying they shouldn't have fought back, they have every right when they were being invaded. But Celestia already knew about the changelings - how do we know they weren't there once before?

The point is, I don't think it's fair to call Always Chaotic Evil on them when what we consider evil or cruel is their basic nature. It's like calling a shark evil. Sure, I don't want to be near one. Sure, if one attacks me I'm going for the eyes. Is it evil? No, it's a shark. It eats things. That's what it does. Shapeshifting, and 'eating' love is what the changelings do. They don't hold any more malice in it then when a shark eats a fish, or a farmer slaughters a cow. And even though I still consider that cows life sacred, I'm going to eat it. Because that's what I do.

Besides, they eat LOVE. Not just a positive emotion, the positive emotion. they can turn into anything. Why not feed off fear? Be the bogeyman in the closet, scare a kid, that's your meal for the night. Make some rustles in the bushes, scare some lovers. Make someone paranoid, smorgasbord! And even then...

And speaking of free will and choices, I don't think we can compare them to sharks. Sharks are not sapient.

As for "why eat love"? Why assume that they can eat any emotion they choose?

@Kegisak: A shark doesn't have the capacity to reason, or to understand right and wrong. This is a different matter entirely.

I think we all agree with each other here, and we're all arguing against Chad at the same time, which makes it look like we're arguing with each other.

My feelings for the Changelings are the same for the Nobodies.

They may not be Always Chaotic Evil, but after looking at the stuff they did the hero's actions against them are pretty damn justified...

I dunno, all we saw was a bunch of love siphoning bug dudes led by an evil queen invade a capital city with the intent on enslaving a kingdom. She also mentioned to have been to other lands. I'm not led to believe they're a kind folk.

Yeah, the Nobodies really should have just explained their situation, and asked that Sora keep defeating Heartless so that they could one day reunite with their hearts.

Of course, considering their leader's real goal, that was never going to happen.

The fact that everyone else in your species did evil stuff shouldn't make you automatically evil, and the fact that you did evil stuff in the past and now feel remorse also doesn't make you evil. Anyone can change their mind.

@Chad Denying Always Chaotic Evil does not deny all evil. There can be a middle ground.

And come on, Chrysalis's personal army isn't likely to have any dissenters in it. They'd either not enlist, or be kicked out. Either way, I don't think any dissenters were in Equestria that day.
