Oh, Friends on the Other Side is great.

Especially the ending where everything goes all lively and colorful. Creating good juxtaposition.

Aww, don't feel left out Bluespade! We would love to hear your opinion :3

I'm a sucker for jazz. That's why I play the trumpet. I even love The Aristocats more than it deserves just because of the music.

Shame the Aristocats only had two songs worth of noting to salvage it from complete and utter blandness.

"Thomas O'Malley" and of course "Ev'rybody wants to be a Cat"

I keep hearing My Eyes from Dr. Horrible's Sing Along when I think of This Day Aria.

[up][up]Love those songs, though! They're enough to make the movie worth watching. I can play Everybody Wants to be a Cat on the trumpet.

It's so weird going to other threads because I keep refreshing and expecting a new post.

@story: I know the feeling. I started a thread to talk about Dave the Barbarian and I kept forgetting that it wouldn't get posts as fast as this one, so I refreshed it 5 times in a row before remembering that show didn't have as many rabid fans.

Sometimes, a good song can save a movie.

I bring up Anastasia once again. It has around 4 enjoyable songs and animation sequences that make it worth watching. It's good enough that it almost makes the horrible, horrible butchering and simplification of Russian History it is.

[up][up]Screwed by the Network doesn't even begin to cover it. With the exception of my oldest sister, all my siblings love it, too.

[up] I love Russian history, and I like to pretend it takes place in an alternate universe. It's more fun that way.

Well I don't really have anything to say that other people haven't said a few dozen times. I loved the finale, especially the Queen and the epic nature of it. I loved how the Elements were defied as the plot-resolution-of-the-day. I liked Cadance and Shining Armor despite the limited amount of time we got to know them and I hope they'll show up again someday (they'd better, considering how Twilight is supposed to be so close to Shiny).

There are a few little details that people seemed to have an issue with (Remember the New Guy, the story focusing on new characters we had no reason to care about, the non-Twilight Mane 6 getting Demoted to Extra). While I understand the complaints and I agree that all of these points look bad on paper, I think the presentation of the episodes made up for all of them. Tropes are never automatically bad, and I think the show kept these from becoming big time failures.

I only have 2 legitimate complaints. Weak conflict resolution, just like with Discord. But again, I don't think it was bad enough to seriously weaken the episodes, although a better, more climactic defeat for the Queen (involving Shiny, Cadance, AND the Mane 6) would have bumped the finale up to another level of greatness. My other complaint is the BBBFF song, which I explained last night is cringe-worthily cheesy and awful to me, but other people seem to like it so I'm willing to forgive. This Day Aria more than makes up for it anyway.

One thing I never thought I'd say, I actually enjoyed the finale more than the episode of Legend Of Korra that aired yesterday. Considering Avatar The Last Airbender is pretty close to my favorite show of all time and so far Korra looks to be even better, that says a lot about the quality of MLP:FIM.

@Blue: Well, I normally hate cheesy stuff too, but this show just melts the cynicism in me. Tropes Are Not Bad to the max!

I snorted when Cadence said "My love will give you power!" (or whatever it actually was) but awwwed when the power actually worked.

And the third time I heard BBBFF, it made me wish that I had a big brother sad

What sounds cheesier:

The Power Of Love or the Power of Friendship

@ Condo: Believe me, I tried.

It's just that all the bad things being caused by wizards are a pet peeve to me :s

[up]

Well The Power of Love is a remedy for EVERYTHING. Illness, the local Evil Overlord, turning all nasty people into nice people, even coming back from the dead. All cheesiness that TPOL has is overshadowed by it's sheer versatility.

Sorry Friendship, I'm going to have to go with you :(

The thing about the BBBBF song is that it made me wish I had a big brother. I have at least one of every possible kind of sibling except a big brother.

BBBFF, like Find A Pet or any non-Smile Smile Smile song sung by Pinkie, makes me cringe in embarrassment, turn down the volume, and wait for the moment to end. There are quite a few songs in the show that I love though, which is rather amazing considering I usually despise musicals.

@Ginger: Power of Friendship sounds cheesier to me.

[down]I'm glad for you.

I loved BBBFF. The overly cheeriness warmed my insidey parts and made me feel all fuzzy inside.

Not ashamed in the least bit.

Though my big bro's a pain in the ass sometimes, so no I didn't automatically thought of him when I heard this for the first time.

That song made me feel kind of guilty, though. It made me want to treat my brothers and sisters better. That's kind of a good sort of guilty, though, I guess.

[up] I figured since you're Catholic you'd have lots of siblings, but I guess that comes from me being from a huge family.
