I think I know why they aired both parts back-to-back instead of a week apart like the past two 2-parters: if they didn't air them back-to-back, it'd be more likely that kids who saw Part 1 might miss Part 2, think Cadance really is evil, and not want the toys of her.

think I found some info that may help Gingers theory, I don't think the headaches were from casting the spell, they were a result of him deifying "Cadances" will, even if he didn't know it, there was enough of a connection that he knew subconsciously she didn't want the shield, but it wasn't strong enough to overrule his need to perform his duties.

@Seraph Actually, while I think you're right about him resisting her that's causing the headaches, I also think that she WANTED the shield to remain up until the right moment, otherwise Canterlot would go on even higher alert and she might start to look suspicious

@isle: Yeah, I definitely lean on the political interpretation as well; there are way too many details oriented towards that to read it literally, and even the straight theological aspects are used to imply judgment against the Roman Empire rather than a literal apocalypse. Historical context is important, dangit. It's why stuff like the Left Behind series drives me nuts. If these guys would put a modicum of thought into it, they'd see that a "literal" reading makes no sense.

Anyway, back on topic, the villains of this show are totally the horsemen of the apocalypse:

Nightmare Moon = Conquest: She tries to conquer Equestria, after all.

Discord = War: His modus operandi is to create chaos by playing ponies against each other. That's pretty warlike.

Chrysalis = Famine: the Changelings are pretty friggin' locust-like and basically want to devour everything.

This means that Season 3 is going to have a Death villain. It's going to be epic.
