actually, wouldn't it be less dues ex machina to use the Elements, which are explained and set up as artifacts of massive power, and have been used since the very beginning of the show, versus some 'love power' that only applies randomly to two ponies and involves nearly no explanation, coming in at the last second to win the day?

Gotta love how selfless Tia is. Just had the crap kicked out of her? "Leave me". Just got released from a gel caccoon and is clearly weakened? "Leave me and go plan the wedding"

Also, I loved how her dancing basically amounted to her bobbing her head slightly

Really, I'm pretty sure that Love is just sort of an offshoot of friendship, which is magic. So the idea that The Power of Love works for something like this shouldn't be that surprising.

Well, you can argue that Love is a special form of Friendship. After all, the sibling bond between Twilight and SA is kind of more of a familiar friendship. So Friendship is all-encompassing while Love is a specific form of Friendship

Also, my headcanon at this point is that Cadence is probably the Goddess of Love, the same way that Celestia and Luna are goddesses of the sun and moon. She's just young.

I also really liked the speech Celestia gave right when she was trying to fight the Queen (I can't spell her name, I'll just call her Queen). Sure, she didn't succeed, but the speech was still really cool

Well, her power is to make ponies fall in love, so that's basically confirmed

I understand that it isn't entirely implausible, I just don't get how it would make things less Deux ex to use the less familiar, more last-minute power that relies less on the efforts of the main characters. I understand the argument that it would be better to have for other reasons, but distance from that trope is not one of them. EDIT: I'm neither dissing the ending, nor saying it doesn't make sense, just that the argument for it previously presented didn't make much sense on a specific note.
