As for Fluttershy, I got the appearance that she was too weak so they decided to ignore her. But now that I think back on it, you're right. She was (half-heartily) pretending to be a changeling.

Funny thing is, even I got jossed on the eyes. I described her as having cataracts, so her eyes were basically white. Nope! Looks like she's sighted after all.

If they love the taste of love, why in the world would they love the taste of hate or other negative emotions? I don't know, a relationship with a changeling and a pony would just be kind of creepy unless the eating love thing wasn't the only way for them to survive.

The love drain may have some negative effects if they take to much. I mean, it's gotta feel basically like a giant freak out, or a moment of passion - you're just burnt out afterwords. So if they took to much it could exhaust the host, like Chrysalis did to SA.

Well, I don't think the changelings need to feed on love to survive. There was apparently an entire army of them chilling out somewhere for who knows how long with no ill effects.

I wonder if they have emotions of their own? I mean, if they do wouldn't they be able to just feed on each other?(Although that's likely gaming the system a bit). Maybe that's the real reason they feed, so that they can have emotions and be more like 'real' ponies.

@Ginger: I mean there's pretty much no way to reconcile my view on it with yours. I'm looking at this through a very different lens, one where they don't necessarily have to be good or bad. You want them to be 'good' and 'nice', but I'm thinking of them in a context where such things are entirely removed from our moral structure. In my eyes parasitism is their way of life, and thus they can't be blamed for it or called evil any more than you could call a shark evil. So I can't ever really reconcile them with your definition of 'nice', in the same way that I can't ever really call a shark nice, even though it may well be very nice by shark standards.
