I think they're just some form of monster. I'm not even sure what we see is their true form so much as an assumed one for convenience. They may not even have a true form.

I'm kinda curious where Luna WAS, we saw her come through the shield to releive Tia from gaurd duty, so why was she outside the shield?

Most likely, she has her own bedroom (or perhaps the princesses share a bedroom).

She was outside the shield that one time because she had just come back from raising the night sky. I'm assuming that the bubble is a two-way shield. She had to leave in order to work her magic on anything outside it.

Yeah, Celestia did seem a bit weak, though I get the feeling it was from the power boost of love... Ye gods, how cheesy. I do find it interesting that the "evil" creatures feed on positive emotions rather than negative ones.

Oh, and here's Shining Armor

◊, who was okay I guess, I didn't really feel for him much, he was just sort of there. But I am glad that Twilight got this finale.

Also: I did not expect a fight scene of that scale, I mean didn't even expect to see the Mane Six fight, and reag only three of them did (I would like to assume Rarity did absolutely positively nothing).
