Re the scary movie discussion from earlier. The scariest movie I've ever seen is Rocky and Bullwinkle. Talk about Accidental Nightmare Fuel.

I think the only horror-related thing that I've actually enjoyed is Bioshock...

@Colin: Psychological horror. It relies more heavily on atmosphere than other horror subgenres. It usually has madness as the central theme or plays heavily on the audience's perceptions of reality. A few good examples would be Psycho, The Hour of the Wolf, The Yellow Wallpaper, and A Turn of the Screw. Psychological horror has it's root in the Gothic literature movement.

Wow, the discussion is still going? I guess my post wasn't as out of context as I feared it would be.

Mental image: Rainbow Dash and some other pony (Pinkie? Applejack?) watching a horror movie. RD claiming not to be fazed by horror movies. Gilligan Cut to RD with their face buried into the other's foreleg muttering "makeitstopmakeitstopmakeitstop..."

I think I am more into adult fears than body or psych fears. An example would be from Majora's Mask. While the moon no longer scares me, the impact it had on the people still unsettles me.

New topic: what would scare the mane 6 the most?

Talking about horror before the time of judgement arrives?

I can take or leave horror in most works, though I typically dislike works that are pure horror.

Anyway, due to circumstances it looks like I will actually miss the finale. Well, here is hoping for a quick Youtube upload. I'll probably also switch back to a Cranky avatar to deliver my opinion, this one I have know just doesn't fell reflective of me.tongue

Twi would be affected most by psych horrors and Adult Fear.

Rarity would be affected most by romance-horror.

Applejack would seem to be the most affected by fear of some of the more terrifying unknowns.

Pinkie? Normal horror movies prolly won't affect her as much.

Fluttershy is easily frightened :3

Dashie would put on a strong front, then get freaked out by something in a cute manner :3

I don't think it was directed at anyone in particular, Colin.

I think Twilight would be scared of losing her friends and being totally alienated from pony society. Of course, I might just be projecting.

[up]Losing her friends would probably work. Now that she knows she has them, she doesn't want to let them go...

Rainbow Dash would be scared of loosing her wings. Or how about loosing her feathers while still having the wing limbs.

Votes still open. Vote before the wedding goes on the road. Thank you.

In other news, Aquabats sure is one trippy show.

@Kegisak:So did you like Cabin in the Woods or not? I can't quite tell from what you've been saying. Anyway, I'm glad people are seeing it, it's one of the most imaginative movies I've seen in years, so I really hope it does well. I wonder if MLP will ever do a horror-parody episode? That would be pretty entertaining but I'm not sure if they would be allowed what with the demographic and all. I mean most of their target audience aren't supposed to have ever SEEN a horror movie so it's not like they'd recognize what was being parodied...

Anyway, today I've got two pony episodes and a new Korra episode to watch, it's gonna be a good day. Just wish I could hang around and watch it live.

@Kayeka: did you get my votes?

Yeah RD would be the one to brag the most about not being scared, but then be the one that can't get to sleep that night becuase of the movie.

Pinkie...Pinkie's horror movies would be dull, dramatic, movies with no fun at all in them.

@Colin: Here's my take on a few of the cast's worst nightmares. The Rarity, AJ, and Twilight sections are fairly tongue in cheek, but I tried to do something different with RD.

Quit likely, though there is no way to check without starting all over again, which will take about an hour of work.

Don't worry, though. I'm pretty sure I've seen your vote.

I just don't know about the Aquabats Show. I know it's supposed to be intentionally goofy and weird but I just can't connect with that.

@Blue: Okay, that's fair enough. Yeah, I actually loved it. Like, I can definitely see the draw in horror movies in it, but just on the whole, in spite of my fear it was completely hilarious, unbelievably creative, amazingly written and directed, and the final act was absolutely amazing for the sheer amount of Amazing and unique monsters it brought to the table - my top four go to the Sugarplum Fairy, The Killamajig, The businessman, and the unicorn.

I definitely, definitely loved it, and heartily recommend it.
