I'm thinking there's some significance to the heart part of Cadance's cutie mark looking slightly different between screenshots.
I originally thought there would be something up with her Cutie Mark since it was always covered, but then it got revealed in a few screen shots so now I'm not so sure.

Probably not. But according to the article there's a Cinderella-like evil stepmother of sorts, so maybe she's not necessarily evil but is being controlled by somepony else to do her bidding
