@Kyler: But Madoka's being conspired against by an unfair contract, an entirely amoral alien, and the heat death of the universe. Fluttershy's being conspired against by Angel and her own shadow.

It's not entirely a fair comparison, is my point. XD

I don't see Kyousuke as a jerk. So he ends up with someone else. He never had any obligation to fall in love with Sayaka. Word Of God is that she never even registered as female to him.

I'm not saying he had an obligation to fall in love with her; that kind of thinking... well, you can see where that kind of thinking ends up. My point is that he never thanked her for caring to visit him, didn't bother telling her he was out of the hospital, and then spent literally the rest of her life avoiding her.

@L Mage: You mean sapient. Also, you left out zebras and diamond dogs.

One idea that I think has merit is that every member of the Chinese horoscope includes a sapient version.

EDIT: Oh yeah. And donkeys (and by extension, mules). Also, I think that there are sapient horses too.

@Red: Point. He should have contacted her. But remember that she was also avoiding him and he probably was busy getting settled. It was a very short time from him leaving hospital till the end.

I have never seen Madoka, so I have no idea what you guys are on about...

As for sentent species, who knows? they all seem to exibit interlect far higher than there real live counterparts do (bar perhaps the goats), but many don't talk. That doesn't mean they are less inteligent though, just that they underdeveloped vocal cords.
