@Mio I mean that in a contest of pure skill, the hero should never come out on top. They should win through either the villain's nature doing himself in. The hero's goodness managing to sway the villain, or
Heroic Willpower allowing him to fight back harder against the villain
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
What if both sides have good intentions but disagree on methods?
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
…My God, Applejack's VA. That is a horrendous imitation of a southern accent.
Yeah. Too bad they couldn't get a real southerner. She reminds me a little of Jake Marshall.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
@Ginger: Ok that makes sense. Though I'm not exactly sure if I agree with that.
@story I don't like stories like that because I'm left with no one to root for, and I end up not caring about anyone.
One side has to be more wrong than the other. That is in no way saying that the villain can't have loads of good points or that the hro can't learn from the villain
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
By the way, what is up with Jake Marshall? Why does he constantly shave while taking to people? How does his stubble grow so fast?

@Ginger: You miiiiiiiiight like Baccano!
@Blue grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, fucking Vino!
He SINGLEHANDEDLY ruined that series for me

Didn't we go through the Old English discussion before?

Anyway, Andorran isn't actually a language.

@Ginger: There are two things I disagree with. The first is that I think the hero's natural abilities should be implemented. Second, while I do agree with how you think a villain should lose, I also like to see the hero having some contingency plans at his/her reserve.
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.
@Ginger: You say you don't like the hero to win by being technically better than the villain, but what about cases where the villain isn't particularly strong but is an excellent chessmaster?
@Crow then the villain should have a dragon who's better/equal to the hero physically. Or just have a plan in play that negates the hero's physical advantage
The one thing I disliked about
The Running Man was the complete non-climax to it
@Orion It's more that if natural aptitude is to be utilized then there should be SOME character who''s better than the hero through training. I DESPISE
Hard Work Hardly Works

I'll say it again, I don't have an ideal story/villain/hero/whatever, because I love variety. I love seeing things done differently, I love uniqueness. There ARE certain tropes and character archetypes I enjoy more often statistically, but I'm always on the look out for new things.
