@Ginger You mean, Scar?

Don't want to egg you on about seeing as I know how you feel about that, but FMA does get alot better as the story goes.

Although Manga/Brotherhood is more on the Action/Adventure scale

2003 is more Drama and Tragedy, I believe you might be impress more with the villains in 2003. If you don't mind the angst.

I am currently brainstorming ideas for villainous counterparts to the mane six for an RPG I am making. My ideas so far are as follow

  • Fluttershy: A power hungry mad scientist who experiments on small animals and ponies for nefarious gains. Quite possibly completely insane. Could be any pony race.
    • I am debating coming up with an alternative concept for rainbow factory for this villain.
  • Rarity: A despotic king/queen of a land. Greedy and cruel but also savvy. He/She would rather not get their hands dirty but instead use their royal army to do the fighting.
    • It's rather cliched at the moment. One of the ideas I am tossing around is making the king a Diamond Dog.
  • Twilight: If anyone can think of a villainous spellcaster that is also not cliched then please relate.
  • Rainbow Dash: A traitorous captain of the royal guard. Might very well be the one to set the whole plot in motion.
    • Confound these RPG tropes. They drive me to drink!
  • Pinkie Pie: Nightmare. Not to be confused with Luna this is actually a being of pure fear. And it DESPISES laughter. It could potentially be a very powerful unicorn who is completely batshit insane, or it could just be a force of nature like Windigos. Nobody knows for sure.
  • Applejack: A clever Serpent. Not to be confused with Stephen Magnet this thing is very charismatic but also very deceitful. It could possibly assist the Big Bad by tricking the Mane Six.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.

@steve The Pony Fanon Thread has mostly fleshed out foils for the Mane 6, so you can get some examples from them.

@David Yeah, that's him. I was just never a fan of him... although I get the feeling that he was a fan favourite

@CDRW Yeah, it just gets weirder and weirder. Only Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie have .MO Vs left now, right?

Scar is not as fanfavorite as a lot of the villains are actually Ginger, the Homunculi are insanely popular.

Besides, I figured you'd like glorious a-holes like Roy Mustang.

I analyze "Geek Culture" here.

Scar is kinda meh, but he's really more of an Anti-Hero, not a villain.

[up]Mustang is "smug" (read: confident). He hates that in anyone who's not a villain.

Oh, good point. Greed's kind of smug too isn't he? And Envy, and with Envy's ambiguous gender Envy'd only be made worse in Ginger's eyes.

Actually there's a lot of smugness in FMA, isn't there?

@Stevebat: For the Twilight opposite: how about an extremely powerful, prodigy magician (just like Twilight), but, instead of being controlled, analytical, and intelligent, he/she is completely wild with their magic. They know nothing about how it actually works, and they cannot control it, and make no attempts to control it. As a result they are a semi-consious Reality Warper, with their spells manifesting constantly, based on emotions, causing considerable destruction and discomfort to those around them, with absolutley no regard for the trouble they cause.

Envy is a villain, so he/she/it gets a pass in his book. Greed is an Anti-Villain, and I don't really know how he feels about them.

@Lurker Character development when applied to a gruff, cynical badass type always makes me groan unless done in a certain way (like with Steelhooves in FE)

and in general it's not character development I have an issue with, it's Heel Face Turn-ing when it doesn't happen at the end of the series. I love villains who are on the ROAD to reforming, and that whole journey, but I usually end up detesting the villains once the change is complete. That's why I wish all potential HFT would happen at the very end

[up] I like greed

With only general knowledge of the Homunculi, I'm going to ask it. Which of the Homunculi would the Mane 6 , plus Spike, like most?
