I'm glad the nerdrage over Mare Do Well has worn itself out. I wasn't especially fond of the episode, but the vitriol it drew was a little more than it deserved.

I still maintain the despite some serious characterization issues, MMDW has some of the best background music and action pieces in the series so far. Not enough to put it in the top half of my episode rankings by any means, but it's not completely worthless.

My stance on Mare Do Well is just that it was subpar. Definitely on the lower end of the spectrum due to the uneven pacing and the characterization issues, but still watchable. Like Perpetual said, it had some great music and animation, it's just that the plot issues tend to be the more memorable aspects. The gag with the peanut butter is still one of my favorite gags.

what rage? last time I saw anyone bring it up was when some idiots tried "trolling" us by all voting for it as the best episode on the EQD poll.

And even then the biggest thing I saw about it was peple upset that it meant MDW wouldn't get it's fair chance to see just how many people really enjoyed it and weren't just trolling.

and yeah all my issues with MMDW were all about characterization and stuff feeling OOC. Everything else was up to the usual standards.

@Chadaman: Aww, Twilight is best little sister. Can I trade mine in?

@Seraph Think about it from my perspective. A gag like that being performed by a charater I dislike for being overpowered and a character I just dislike in general (even if those are the lones it's still them)

@story I actually do have some homework due tomorrow that I haven't started on yet as well.

And to clarify: if there hadn't been an extension, which I just recently found out about, that homework would be due 5 minutes ago, I still don't have all of the basic parts down, and there are still some problems I need to work out

@Chada: Twilight just looks weird with curly hair. The gif is still incredibly adorable though. It's just weird seeing Twilight with her mane like that after having it straight almost all the time.

@Seraphem: I think that's the problem though, Applejack is becoming lined more consistantly as The Straight Man, a trope often applied to duller foils to more dynamic members. Applejack despite her logical persona, has heavy flaws like all the others, she's stubborn, over assertive and, like any cowgirl, rather rowdy. In season one she actually arguably got more episodes than any other pony but Twilight where she was a main star. Granted it doesn't help even in season two episodes she does get the center focus, she ends up overshadowed by other certain ponies.I'm not saying AJ is becoming a Flat Character, but she seems a bit more limited in role than she was before.

This may be why Twilight, despite also often being an Only Sane Man is seen as less restricted, since they are being very careful to balance her rashional moments with very memorable bouts of Not so Above It All. Season Two episodes such as Lesson Zero and It's About Time definitely give her the most iconic role.

Actually it seems that the long term effects of MMDW was galvanizing the Dash fans, and the Dash haters, making the former paranoid of her future characterization, and the latter quick to demonize her.
