The Straight Man, a trope often applied to duller foils to more dynamic members. Applejack despite her logical persona, has heavy flaws like all the others, she's stubborn, over assertive and, like any cowgirl, rather rowdy. In season one she actually arguably got more episodes than any other pony but Twilight where she was a main star. Granted it doesn't help even in season two episodes she does get the center focus, she ends up overshadowed by other certain ponies.I'm not saying AJ is becoming a
Flat Character, but she seems a bit more limited in role than she was before.
This may be why Twilight, despite also often being an
Only Sane Man is seen as less restricted, since they are being very careful to balance her rashional moments with very memorable bouts of
Not so Above It All. Season Two episodes such as Lesson Zero and It's About Time
definitely give her the most iconic role.
