I also tend to just ignore bits of the fandom I don't like. I'd be perfectly happy if I never had to see Scootabuse or Molestia again, but that doesn't mean I have to voice my displeasure every single time I see it.

@story yeller: I think the aesops in the show seem very relevant to Character Development. Pinkie Pie is used more for comic relief than getting her flaws deconstructed so isn't quite as humanized (she does get some stories however, such as the recent one). Applejack I think was pretty multi faceted in the first season since there was a lot of focus on conflicts and flaws in her persona, in the second season she seems to be becoming more of a secondary character, maybe why some are saying she's one of the blander characters. I could say Rainbow Dash got a lot more development in the second season than the first, as much as many fans didn't like it.

Basically the more of a Jerk Ass Butt Monkey the character is, the more depthful they are.

What's especially frustrating is how Ginger constantly complains about being in the minority and not having anyone else share his opinions, even though that's patently untrue.

@Chada "A Dog and Pony Show, " when they're being dragged through the tunnels on Spike's fishing rod.

@Story: I think it's also that he takes any difference of opinion as a personal attack. Or at least that's how it looks sometimes. It looks like he assumes "people disagree with my opinion" to "people dislike me" for some reason.

He's like House, he isn't happy unless he's miserable. Or was that Dr. Cox...

The thing that bothered me about Dog and Pony Show is because I couldn't help thinking about how things would probably not work so well in Real Life.

I just find it really hard to avoid it, and whenever I search for images, she's always the first to pop up

Well, I had an interesting time with the homework. I procrasinated too long and wasn't sure about some things. I'm just glad that there's an extension... Otherwise it would be done in two minutes and I'd be panicking like Twilight in Lesson Zero, not sure whether that's an exaaggeration. At any rate, I do still have more to do, but I have time. But don't kick me out now. (Going to need to go soon anyway)

also I don't see how AJ is becoming a "side character" at all, she's had plenty of screen time, she's never shunted off, sure she's not soloing the spotlight much, but that's just her character, on her own all she'd do is work, and she the least likely pony to have drama or conflict on her own.

Mostly she's had the least fleshing out becuase shes the one the least needs it, she doesn't hide anything, what you see is what you get, an honest, dependable, hard working pony.

So has the fandom finally gotten over Mare Do Well? I haven't seen the ritualistic arguments in the usual places.

no, but this fandom tends to be a bit paranoid at times and someone will take one person saying something at all negative as them complaining about it and go from there to full on panic mode about how there's some huge controversy that pople are raging over, which then spreads, and then peple start getting upset at people BEING upset, etc etc...

kinda like ponyville any time anything happens PANIC!!!
