Well, actually, after the episode began (and we had the whole list of the potential suspects), there was only two logical solutions :

> Pinkie ate it in her sleep.

> Everypony but Applejack (pony of Honesty), Pinkie and Twilight (Were both exited by playing detectives)

I was so BUCKING happy of that cute Celestia scene at the end...Hopefully we will see more of her (and Luna ^^) in the two-parter :D

Celestia's lip smacks were adorable. And I just noticed this, but she looked so distraught when Pinkie dived on that cake. Looks like somepony's about to get a one way ticket to the moon.

Reaching out a hoof and not actually doing anything is pretty different from sneaking out in the middle of the night for a bite.

I love how the show seems to be pushing a "Celestia loves cake" thing. All we need is a shot of her pigging out on wedding cake in the finale.

So, did the Cakes give a reason they weren't going to the contest themselves? Well, given how Mr. Cake acted, he'd probably go into a coma if he saw the damaged cake.

So, in one fanfiction I'm reading about Celestia going on a diet, they talk about the various comfort foods Celestia drowned herself in after the whole Nightmare Moon incident. I believe they made mention of "The Decade of Cheesecake."
