The Rules Document as of now shifts what you have as "Basic Weathercrafting" into "Cloudwalking" and "Cloudshaping." Should they be the same skills or separate?

@Apple: Right now I'm operating under the idea that Earth Ponies start with Basic Tail Dexterity and some extra base stat/skill point bonuses. Or something like that. You thinking that rain/rainbow/lightning/hail/snow/storm-wind manipulation should all be advanced skills?

I'm wondering if they should just get a basic skill for free. Something to do with the earth. I mean, they're not called earth ponies for nothing.

And then you could have a flaw/variant involving your character not having one or more basic skills their race normally gets for free, in exchange for skill/attribute points.

@Kyler: Now I'm picturing a Pony named Minmax with numerous social disabilities in exchange for immense fighting ability

, or perhaps a minmaxed uber-social pony who has birth defects that make her weak and unable to handle heavy work, but in exchange she has absurd CHA and is effectively a moeblob who can seduce stallions and les/bi mares into helping her with everything (or something like that).

I really, really cannot wrap my head around that idea. Especially if Tail Dexterity is going to be earth pony only. What, a pegasus can't learn to swish their tail the same way? What's the difference?

Earth ponies have stronger tails, perhaps? Other ponies can learn it but it'll take skill investment. I've tweaked the prereq for balance here.

We have seen non-Earth Ponies use their tails that way before, but it was an isolated incident. Remember the ending of Ticket Master where everyone had Telekinesis? Honestly, I'd be fine with it going either way, and the majority seems to be in favor of it being EP exclusive at the moment.

I have a potential EP ability. A sort of six sense...making them very aware of their surroundings.

The 'pinkie sense' is a uniquely powerful version of this, as it can predict what is about to happen rather than what is happening.

That is not a prerequisite. That should really be "Prerequisites: (whatever) STR/DEX".

And then have a line at the end of the description that says

Earth ponies have this skill for free, regardless of STR/DEX.

There's a difference between being able to swish their tails around like a broom (which all ponies can do) and using it like a limb to pick up and manipulate objects. I'm pretty sure only E Ps have ever been seen doing the latter, although I might just be misremembering.

@Apple: I put in an Advanced EP skill for that, Earth Sense. It can be utilized as a geology sense, as done by Pinkie's family when running a geode farm. Pinkie Sense itself is the Master skill that surpasses Earth Sense. Also AJ totally went with a physical CON build and doesn't have the INT/WIS/CHA required to learn Earth Sense. Or something like that.

The difference between absence of evidence and evidence of absence comes to mind. Unicorns may not bother (they have magic, after all), but they could if they felt like it. And what's stopping pegasi from doing the same?

You know what, forget it. What this is, really, is a clash of ideology about pony physiology, and I'm pretty sure I'm not about to sway anyone's opinion. And with that in mind, it's probably best if I don't meddle with the skill system.

But I'll be watching.
