Well, according to the beginning, everyone was making fun of Pinkie for being so "serious" about protecting the cake. So maybe it will turn out that someone DID destroy the cake and everyone will learn the lesson that Pinkie should be taken seriously. Or something. Or maybe Pinkie will learn that there are more important things than cake?

And, wow, Ginger thought Pinkie was cute...

I'm kinda surprised they didn't go with a more subtle way of screwing up the cake, like the perpetrator somehow ate the cake without disturbing the frosting or replaced it with a fake or something.
