Hoo boy, that's a lot to take in.

I've often had that kind of jerky writing style with the multiple paragraphs and sentence breaks. Guess I'll need to work on that. Likewise, I've never been good at descriptors... always been prone to those big chunks of featureless dialogue. Not sure why, I've just never been good at the exposition stuff.

Glad you liked Ritardando, though. I'm not too concerned about him (even if he kinda is the main character) - what I'm really concerned about is the female characters. I've never written female characters before, so that presents me with a challenge.

So here's what I've just spent the past few hours putting together.

I'm not sure what bothers me the most right now. A) The fact that no one else thought to do it already (to my knowledge) B) The fact that I was bothered enough by the lack of such a creation to spend the past few hours making it myself or C) This nagging urge to create an account on deviantart and go post it where it can be seen with all the other fan art out there.

Don't worry too much about making your female characters female. Take a cue from the mane cast of MLP: You've got workaholics, partiers, athletes, and whatnot. So don't worry about talking too much about "pink rings and frilly things" when a girl happens to be at the scene. No really! The show itself is an excellent starting ground with many examples of ways to write female characters.

So, do you think there's ever going to be an episode where they actually go to that gala? So far they've fought over a ticket to it, had dresses made for it... and nothing about actually going to it yet.

The finale is a good bet. It seems a bit too important to drop entirely.

I know, and that's what I'm trying to avoid.

I'm hoping there's an episode about the Gala...They did make another reference about it, after all, and since it was about halfway through the season it could be seen as a reminder...It wouldn't surprise me if the Gala was the season finale.

Best adivce I can give for writing a girl is not to think of it as writing a girl. Just write a character first and foremost. At the end of the day, the real behavioral differences are very slight, and usually societal. So, the attributes that someone 'girly' will vary from person to person.

On a not so related note: I have come to the conclusion that even though Applejack and Rainbow Dash don't always seem to stay true to their element of harmony, it's their element that actually helps stick with their friends. I mean I haven't really seen Applejack lie (even in Applebuck Season as she honestly believed she could harvest the entire orchard herself. it wasn't until the end where she realized how deep she was that she finally accepted help) and Rainbow Dash may be brash and doubt her friends many times over, but she sticks with them because she "won't leave them hangin'".

Don't try to avoid it. If it happens, it happens.

Y'know, I find the crossovers with Doctor Who to be incredibly entertaining, even though I've never seen that show. But apparently some Doctor Who fans are fans of MLP. The fact that the doctor is sometimes paired alongside Derpy is also entertaining.
