Who, exactly, beyond Celestia and Luna actually know or care that the Mane Six are the Elements of Harmony? That whole thing practically happened in a forest, virtually off-screen, all the public know is that Luna came back, and weren't even comfortable with that clearly. And the Discord incident didn't exactly have a huge audience, all the public know is that the Mane Six defeated Discord somehow.

Keep in mind that Twilight is still Celestia's pupil, not to mention Armor's sister. If it wasn't the sister of the groom and her friends, it'd either be Armor's guardsmen friends or no one, so I really don't see what grounds anyone would have to complain.

Unless they had other family or they're using niece in the casual sense. Like we have several family friends I call uncle despite not actually being my uncles.
