did any of them work on Benny Hill, or any old time Looney Tunes shorts? It was a fairly revolutionary and well know cartoon from when most of them were growing up with a very distinctive style that is hard to miss.

If ponies TAKE RAIN AWAY just to make it rain and BRING IT BACK to Ponyville, what's the use for the whole hurricane/rain/Cloudsdale/Pegasus event anyway? It's just going to go in a cycle. I suppose Cloudsdale needs water for some things too. And without water in the air, there would be no clouds.

Yeah. They take the water to make the clouds and create the rain cycle. Water for crops, keep lakes and dams full, that sort of thing. I guess it really is that nothing happens on it's own... or they just help it along, at least. I still don't think the world is completely under their control, it has 5to be autonomous to some degree.

So I did the math, and while Rainbow was probably overestimating the groups abilities if she thought she could reach 1000 wingpower, they still could have beaten the record if those 8 sick ponies averaged over 13.75 each. That seems doable.

I wouldn't see the point; they both sell entirely different fruits. A rivalry would only work if they both sold types of apples.

That was prior to any sort of training. With everypony doing work specifically to increase wingpower it might be possible. It would help to know how they're measuring it.

Poor Twilight just wants ponies to read more and be more knowledgable about useful things.

I'm glad this season is opening up the world more and introducing ponies that most likely won't be important later on!

Random note from the episode: spike's checklist had a little profile drawing of every pony instead of simply writing their name. I can imagine a whole lot of misunderstandings and shenanigans resulting from that.

Didn't they all pretty much manage that though? Other than Fluttershy of course.

Actually, I find it a little odd that the record is only 110 over the required minimum, and that a small town is almost capable of beating it. Does Cloudsdale never go to cities for this?
