Well part of it is probably an illusion. When the thread is going slowly, people get bored, while when the thread is active, people don't notice as often.

Just go ahead and do it. Even if it looks awful, the more you try things you don't think you're good enough for the more you advance as an artist.

Ya know what creeped me out about G1 pony cartoon? The babies had the same name as their mom. There would be a Moondancer, and a Baby Moondancer. I always thought that maybe they reproduced by asexual budding and the Baby version of them was the replacement for them when they died....

I was a strange child...
