Hah, that's pretty true. Moore also insists the only reason people enjoy super heroes these days are their fascist qualities.

@Ginger I love his work. The man himself is a jackass.

He also looks like a hobo.
And fancies himself a magician. My god, he's like a real-life Trixie!

I have a personal disdain for Insufferable Geniuses. It makes me actually DISLIKE their work.
Like Kubrick. God FUCK, outside of
A Clockwork Orange I HATE Kubrick.
Is it me, or does Kubrick's filming style feel... cold?

Trixie writes comic books in her spare time. Her work includes Watchponies and P for Pinketta.

It does feel detached, but I think that was intentional on Kubrick's part.

But hey, at least Morrison isn't a colossal asshole the way Moore is, and generally seeks to improve himself as a person and encourages others to do the same.

Alan Moore is freaking scary. Have you seen the comic Neil Gaiman did of him? But his stories are good. Coincidentally I've got an article on him open on my desk right now.

(rolls eyes) sigh...
Why must everyone defend him?

I have the feeling, that if you told Moore you love his work, he would roll his eyes and give a weary sigh.
Yeah, he's a dick. But a very talented dick.

Not really trying to defend Kubrick. I never said that I agreed with his style, just that it might be his style. Which people have. Just like John Huston.

It's one of the things I appreciate about video games; it's literally impossible to become famous as a game designer, so I'm not terribly worried about anything ever going to my head. I actually think that humility is a fairly necessary trait for the creative mind, at least if you're working for entertainment. The message, or whatever part of your work you think so highly of, is useless if the fans don't want to accept it. Humility allows you to read your audience and... well, not generally talk down to them. They don't tend to like that.
I can't stand James Cameron for much the same reason.
But I actually do like a lot of his movies.
I think EVERY film maker should have at least ONE failure. Cameron hasn't

Well, Avatar was kinda crappy. Had an utterly shit protagonist.

He directed
Pirrahne 2. That counts as a failure I guess.

It's also the highest grossing movie EVER, and was released in cinemas multiple times. I wouldn't call that a failure.
Quaritch is the only good thing about that movie

Yeah Avatar is just a pretty picture. Very little mental stimulation to be had there.
Tealove is best pony.

Can you think inside the chimney?
I also didn't think the effects were THAT good. Not once did I feel like all that was real

If you go into a summer blockbuster expecting mental stimulation, then you're going to be disapointed.

To bring it back to ponies, what sorts of films do you think the girls would direct?
Fluttershy: a David Attenborough styled nature documentary
Dashie: A hair-raising hotblooded action movie in the style of John Woo, only with fewer pigeons
AJ: A quiet character drama of some sort. Possibly taking place on a farm. Alternatively, a character study about a neurotic and lonely pony living in the city focusing on the alienation of city life.
Rarity: A highly visually stunning film. Possibly a musical or costume drama in the style of the Hollywood Studio System era.
Pinkie: A comedy in the style of the Marx Brothers
Twi: an arthouse film or some science documentary.
