Hmm.. I was just wondering as I work on a custom pony, whose cutie mark is a blood spatter...

Would you want to be friends with a Pony who had violent themed cutie mark? Would there be cutie mark profiling by Pony police? You have a blood spatter for a cutie mark you obviously didnt get that chasing butterflies...

I don't think we have any idea. It's entirely possible that they left to go someplace else after; dragons seem to be mostly solitary from what we saw in the first season.

Could be a "Magic Engineer" in-universe. We've said before that it would probably be more efficient to activate something with straight magic rather than produing electricity that would be used on it...

I imagine there are lots of explosions and they come running out of the workshop in a cloud of smoke (not always black smoke due to the magical nature of their experiments)

You know, the recent episode may have nicely explained why it was such a major deal that there was a dragon "napping" nearby in Dragonshy. As Twilight says, Dragons are rare enough that Ponies, as a race, don't really know much about them at all. Clearly, Equestria is not their normal stomping grounds. It's likely that there are many other areas on the planet that can handle them, or they migrate a lot, so a dragon settling down into an ecosystem that is most certainly not prepared for it? Pretty big deal.
