I wouldn't be surprised if AJ and Twi were the youngest. AJ is still young, headstrong, and full of Apple Family pride, while Twi is fresh from a graduate course at Canterlot U and has become Celestia's personal postgrad.

Eh, I don't know. The elder scrolls series managed to work saving and alternate endings into the mythology and timeline. I don't see any reason it couldn't be done.

I kinda feel they are sort of in the teenage range, not just because of characterizations (which range from responsible to completely immature for all six of them) but because that tends to be the most marketable protagonist age. How many cartoon characters have you noticed are around tweens to mid teens?

The nearest to a specified age however is Fluttershy being a year older than Pinkie Pie, whatever her age may be.

You figure it would have to be late teens, they all appear to be living on their own. Of course Pony age of emancipation may be younger than it is for most humans.

Ive always thought of Rarity or Applejack as the oldest out of the bunch.

I kinda feel Pinkie Pie is the youngest (likely making Fluttershy second youngest). Twilight is likely a student due to further advanced education, I'd likely place in the mid point along with Rainbow Dash, with Rarity and AJ being the oldest.

Kid like characters living on their own isn't rare in fantasy cartoons. eg. eight year old Tails has his own house and workshop, while Rufus and Amberley are naive brats who have their own houses and desperately seek jobs in the pilot.

Well, most of them are either living independently or away from family, so they're pretty clearly adults. They also all have solid jobs (With the exception of Twilight, who may or may not be the librarian). It's fair to say they aren't teenagers anymore, though whether or not their out of their teens is another question. I'd say their ages range from about 19-22 or so, tops. 21 is more likely.
