@Mio Technically, we only know that the citizens of Ponyville, and wherever they got their medical training don't know much about dragon physiology. They could know enough about dragon migration patterns to know where they're going. And if this doesn't happen that frequently, that could help strengthen the argument for this.

@crowlover: Were you able to see the preview clip? In it they seem to imply the ponies know little about Dragons in general, and they explicitly say that Dragons (at least in Equestria) are rare. So yeah, I really can't imagine that they would know about migratory patterns either.

The dragons are all migrating to the north due to the events of Pokemon The Movie 2000.

Well, if we assume that the dragon migration happens before the preview clip, it would be kinda hard for them to miss it. It could be large enough that Spike has the opportunity to join it when it passes the town.

I don't know what to think about the next episode. My initial reaction is that I don't think I'll like it much. However, I've noticed recently that all of the episodes I think I won't like I end up loving, and the ones I expect to like I am disappointed by. That means I should expect to like it after all... but if I expect to like it, it means I'll actually dislike it... It's a paradox.

I wonder if the 100 year nap thing is actually true? Maybe it's a bit of Pony folklore since they don't really know about dragon sleeping habits.

Or just stuff that the Princess knows and nopony else.

It may still be. If the Dragon Migration is a big enough event, and last long enough in Ponyville your theory might still hold up.
