@Seraph speaking of that I would love to see Celestia's bad/imperfect side.

Somehow I don't think we will ever see Luna grow as a character.

@Blue I'm not. I think Alicorns are a species born like any other. They're just a particularly powerful race.

Celestia's perfect side is what I find interesting though. It makes me wonder what's going on inside her head

My Theory on the gods is that they have a sort of higher consciousness, but are not infallible to any degree. Whether that higher consciousness is due to their birth or a matter of experience is sort of out the window, since the youngest of them is still several thousand years old, so it's pretty much impossible to tell. The only thing known for sure is that their more tuned to magic than ordinary ponies. Possibly this is what helps them attain their higher consciousness.

For the sake of definition, what I mean by 'higher consciousness' is their brains are basically several times more advanced than another ponies. Celestia can effectively live out several weeks worth of actions, almost pinpoint-perfectly predicting other ponies based on what she's observed, in a matter of seconds. It's what allows for her batman gambitting - She's perceptive enoug that she literally can predict what other ponies will do. When gods try to out-plan another it comes down to who can be the least predictable and still do something constructive.

On the last page: That pony in the Last Round up was clearly grey, not black.

I still think they made Luna TOO flawed but that's just me.

I'm ok with it, but it also makes me less interested in her.

Luna is a bit inmature for beign a millenarian pony isn't she ?

I think the Alicorns are only a race in the same way the Titans, the Olympians, the Aesir, insert mythological group of gods here, are.

@Blue Derpy is grey. That was a much darker shade. It's all semantics, though.

A lot of it is just culture shock. She would probably seem a lot less flawed back when the stuff we think of as flaws now was the norm.

if only we can get some definitive evidence of what an Alicorn is in show....

whelp, time for bed......and hopefully I'll get to work and they'll tell me that truck canceled so I can turn right around and back to sleep.

You would think she would realize that after a thousand years she just might be out of touch with how things are, but I guess that wouldn't be funny.

Seems like a good enough analogue, but since i am more of a DC then a Marvel fan I'll compare them to The New Gods instead.

She spent a thousand years in utter solitude, under the effects of some kind of personality altering dark magic. She's got good reason to be kind of messed up.

They're certainly more powerful/substantial than the kami of Moriya Shrine who are dependant on Faith of their believers.

I myself suscribe to the belief that they were powered up permanently when they sealed Discord and saved Equestria that one time a thousand years ago.
