Y'know, this kinda brings to mind my thought about how I'd like to see a video game with a pacifistic main character.

There are a few. Most of them tend to be either adventure games or games for kids though.

Now I'm imagining a story with a world in which physical contact is physically impossible. All conflict, communication and contact is made mentally.

@Fallen: It depends on context. As a party member, unless they're young they'd be over powered. As an enemy, they could be extremely threatening, and a good enemy. Enemies in RPG's often tend to be world-shattering, because progression and ginding means that by games end you're felling giants like they're nothing.

A pacifist main character has never been the issue, it's always the gameplay issue. Like, stealth games encourage you not to fight by having pretty shitty combat in general. But most games are very action-oriented. I think as technology advances we'll find ways around that (Like a game about directing others to do your bidding, and not actually doing any killing yourself), but it's very difficult because, unfortunately, a lot of gamers just go for power fantasy stuff.

Here's a thought: A main character is a Guile Hero game. All combat takes place in sripted locations, and as opposed to fighting directly you need to set off traps and solve quick puzzles to defeat the enemies.

[up] Isn't directing others to be violent for you what RTS is all about? [lol]

This is why I love Ace Attorney. All the battling is verbal

Yeah, but I'm talking in action game format. Like, you're a ghost or something an your NPC can see you, so you have to direct him to do stuff for you.

Say kegisak...what if the challenges were also about things like put out a burning building etc?

No violence, but still plenty of peril.

I still think having a mental battle based system would at least be interesting to experiment with.

I know it would mostly come in the form of dressing up elements like magic with different names, but I still like stuff like that. Presentation (not graphics, but aesthetics) counts for a lot as well.

Have I mentioned how much I hate how damn stuborn and hard headed my bosses are? They harp on me that I need to get the stock room emptied in the right amount of time, (company has a 8 hour policy, all merchandise from the truck should be on the floor within 8 hours.) But won't listen to me when I say that it is physically impossible to do that with the amount of man-hours people work back there.

I CAN do math, if you need to process 5 boxes an hour per person (the company approved average a person should do)....but with the amount of hours people work back there most trucks would need 8-9 boxes an hour per person, and they just don't want to hear that.

I actually liked the way this episode handled Pinkie because it scaled down her wackiness from Looney Tunes slapstick to relegating a lot of the looniness to her personality. The gags she does are things that the other ponies could do, but wouldn't, rather than things the other ponies wouldn't be capable of.

That really didn't bug me much; if she had been doing stuff like that during the whole episode it would have been annoying.

[up] It was more because of the impending fandom reaction to it that I feared.

Kinda like how that was my mane problem with the Party Cannon, not the gag itself

I did like that Pinkie sort of acknowledged the relative uselessness of her Pinkie Sense. Only for vague and immediate events.

[up]Has there been a large reaction to that? I haven't seen much of one.

I will say that I like the RPG idea, Kegisak. If you're not willing to have all six in battle at once, maybe you could have it be where you're limited to one unicorn, one earth pony, and one pegasus. (Assuming the Mane six are the only playable characters)

Oh, by the way, I like Pikmin as well.
