I remember the initial reaction was VERY mixed, but we eventually got more positive as time went on.

The reverse of how it normally works actually. Where we start out loving it, then began criticising it later on

Oh, right, Derpy.

You know what, any mention of The Last Roundup should refer to, you know, the episode about Applejack. The Derpy scene should be called something else. Probably The Infamous Derpy Scene or somesuch.

I normally shouldn't be bothered as much, were it not for the fact that it pretty much overshadowed the rest of the episode. Which also happens to be my favorite. Basically it overshadowed my favorite episode.

Derpy was only in one scene really. I could argue Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie stole the episode more. I heard this might have something to do with Applejack being considered The Everymare of the group so needs another more abrasive star to work off of (though this is a Depending on the Writer thing since she does have distinct quirks and can hold an episode by herself a few times, eg. Applebuck Season).
