Maybe Celestia and Luna just get giant balls of fire instead of cakes.
@Kyler: Yes, I do mean solstices. Thanks.
The Summer Sun Celebration seems to be a combination of celebrating the sun and celebrating Celestia. And Luna certainly deserves some appreciation.

Aw crap, I missed like 3 whole discussions after not checking this for a two days...
The thread seems to have moved on from Trixie, though.
Maybe Celestia was born on the Summer Solstice and Luna was born on the Winter Solstice and that's why those are the longest day/night of the year.
Tealove is best pony.
I could've sworn the pilot refers to 'the longest day of the year' several times. Anyway, one would think that most of the natural processes are the same as they are here; they just require pony help to get started. I doubt the trees turn color because the ponies paint them, for instance.
Of course, having your alicorn goddesses raise not only the moon, but the sun and the stars, requires a
lot more explaining than that, but...

Anyone else wonder how pegasi play basketball? I bet it'd end up sort of like Quiditch.
It's pronounced "Te-ah-low-ve"
I have to wonder how they play sports in general - at least, our sports. It seems like that, with no hands, they'd have do come up with a lot of their own. Except maybe for soccer.
They been shown to hold objects in somewhat their entire single hoof with no fingers or thumbs, though that rarely happens.
I had an idea for a Pony sport once... it's like kickball or baseball, except the players hit the ball with their heads/horns when up to bat, there are rules dealing with pegasi and flying, stuff like that.
Well, it's shown that they play football in
Fall Weather Friends.

But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...
I wonder if unicorn magic ever factors into the games. For example, Rarity's wouldn't really matter unless you have some prop made of cloth (capture the flag, anyone?). Twilight, of course, would be a gamebreaker no matter what.
Unless you subscribe to the theory that all unicorns have limited telekinesis of all objects, even outside the scope of their special talents.
