But, many of the Disney villains were somehow flawed in their evil. Frollo, the worst by a wide margin, believed he was doing the right thing, and was tortured by his own nature. Scar became lethargic after his victory, because it was ultimately empty. And so on. A complete monster
can be interesting. but it requires a great deal of intelligence on the part of the audience, the ability to recognize those flaws that still make them human. Or failing that, an intellectual appreciation for the way in which they show their monstrosity, as one might have to the CM page image character. And while we've proven it's by no means a good idea to doubt an audience's intelligence, particularly given the periphery, keep in mind this show is made first and foremost for children, who would
not take a moment to think about why the evil thing is evil, and so would require
another heavy change on top of the
heavy mood change that would come with the introduction of irredeemable evil what part of this concept escapes you?
