I am seriously getting tired of Dash's detractors using MTBPW as proof of her "jerkishness". Heaven forbid the most athletic, competitive pony use an athletic competition to determine what kind of animal suits her the best. -_-
My problem is less with the way she did that in "Best Pet" and more the way she let all the fame go to her head in "Mare Do Well". I mean, I get that she probably has some sort of inferiority complex that she keeps hidden from everyone else, but basking in fame like that isn't appropriate in any circumstance.
Tick Tock, goes the clock/ He cradled and he rocked her/ Tick Tock, goes the clock/Till River kills the Doctor.
I just don't like people who consider themselves awesome. It makes me think they have a huge ego, and lack self awareness.
Everypony was being complete jerks in Mare Do Well except Pinkie and maybe Fluttershy.
I don't think so. I think that what they did was perfectly warranted, and most of the time that Mare Do Well had to step in it was Rainbow's fault for trying to ham it up and make it more impressive.

@ AHR: Even if they are awesome?

@Superior Serperior Technically, Rarity did nothing but make the costume.

The internet is the realm of chaos, but not all chaos is evil.
The only thing that bugged me about Best Pet was how dangerous the canyon run was. And really it only bugged me after the giant eels appeared (since all the other obstacles could be taken as carefully as each competitor pleased without fear of being nommed). As for the rest of the tests, Dashie was clear about what she was looking for and each competitor had the option to drop out at any time, so I have no qualms about her being a hard ass there.
Dashie has yet to learn that though, AHR. Give her time, she'll find that one out eventually.
Then we're going to have problems

No, we aren't. People can disagree on topics.
EVERYPONY was in the wrong in that episode. Maybe if the moral was that two wrongs don't make a right it might have worked but there are better ways of getting across that moral.
@AHR So, if anyone has high self-esteem, they are wrong and aren't allowed to feel good about themselves? Besides, it has been shown that Dash's bravado is a front to cover for her own insecurities.
Librarian: Yea, Dashie's near catastrophes are what really bugged me about that episode. I can kind of put aside Ponyville mutating into some sort of strange danger trap as a necessity of the theme. I was even okay with Dashie getting a little egotistical (it's in character and she wasn't hurting anyone). What I didn't like is where it got to the point where her negligence was putting other ponies in danger. I'd say she's lucky she had her friends to bail her out whenever a situation went bad like that, but I also feel like the writer played her ego too hard. So I guess you could say my annoyance ratio is 50/50 for Dashie and the writer respectively.
Hey, AJ played High School football...that's my head cannon.
