Hey good work with the review JT!

You raised some good points with Pinkies apparent OOC moments. I mean, how can the pony who refuses to prank Fluttershy because she's too sensitive read a donkey so wrong? And the whole bit with Matilda is...well, yeah, contrived, as you said.

But the humour and the sweetness of this episode more than makes up for it.

@Ginger: Well, someone played Fluttershy for fun and she use the stare move. Instant KO.

@JT I don't think it's too far teched for pinkie to be that popular. She gives everypony very special attention.

Don't forget it was established in Retrun of Harmony that she is friends with everypony and in the tikcet master she was able to get many friends to party with her fast.

But I like your review and I agree with most points it was a nice read well done!. I was worried I had to wait more to read it very good job as always.

@Ginger: Yeah, it basically comes down to me liking the song itself, but it doesn't fit into the episode as well as it could.

And yeah, this is one of those episodes where the quality is directly tied to whether you personally find the issue at hand to be problematic. For me, OOC-ness is one of the biggest problems a story can have, so I just couldn't overlook that.

What I meant was "I don't think Pinkie could normally be as insensitive as she is in this episode and still be so well liked". The idea being that normally Pinkie is better at telling when to hold back, and the fact that she fails so badly in this episode is an anomaly.

So, Fighting is Magic had a stream, showed off Rarity and Pinkie Pie, Twilight has a Lyra recolor and Applejack a Big Mac recolor, some fun matches... and they ended it with Fluttershy one-hit-KO-ing Pinkie Pie with The Stare. Twice. It was a glorious tease.

@Jt My bad then I misudenrstood then I guess that means I agree with you at 100% :D.

1.) What does the stare move look like?

2.) Is there some kind of effect?

3.) How does Pinkie react?

@Calnos: It didn't end there. The stream just died for a bit. They showed some more stuff and ended with Fluttershy vs. Fluttershy.

@Ginger: Well, it was a bit hard to tell, but I don't think there was a really visible special effect (yet). It was just Fluttershy staring angrily. Pinkie just looked like she was getting hit a whole bunch.

Fluttershy's hurtboxes apparently haven't been implemented yet though, so they just Stared at each each other with no effects.

She stands there, wings up, and her irises and pupils shrink considerably. No visual effect is given for the actual attack, and I didn't catch it being used on Pinkie.

Angel (who AFAICT stands next to Fluttershy at all times) puts his front paws over his mouth and starts looking concerned.

The Stare looked like 'Shy using The Stare. No secondary effect and no hit graphic. Pinkie fainted.

@J Teeth: To be quite honest I think that this season has been playing up her obliviousness and insensitivity in a lot of her side character appearances, so I didn't feel that she was OOC (though that didn't stop me from being annoyed by her).

I agree that the library scene being the best and worse scene. I was enjoying the episode quite fine and it looked like she actually learned her lesson, until she stated that she wanted Cranky to except her apology, then it took a nose dive. Also the library scene also has one of the most subtle (or unintentional) bits of continuity in the show when Rainbow is the one to tell Pinkie exactly why Cranky doesn't like her.

I think others hypothesized that maybe they haven't implemented Fluttershy's hit boxes.
