I figured it was just to show what total fakes they are, they act all condescending and dismissive at first, then soon as she's popular "oh we LOVE you, come to our party!" Just showing that they just go along with what they think everypony else is thinking.

It's just... why was the party hosted by them? Nothing really comes of it. and it forces us to suddenly buy that Fancypants would come to a gathering hosted by ponies who, in their last scene, weren't even important enough to get a box seat.

I know it can be justified, but I'm thinking from a writing standpoint

Hey, white is one of the primary colors I run in my Magic decks. I even had a mono-white damage redirection deck my friends dubbed The Hand of God. Unfortunately it was a bit of a one-trick pony as it were.

The party was hosted by Jet Set and Upper Crust because having the party be crashed by a bunch of crazy ponies is way more upsetting to them than it would be to Fancy Pants. It was probably written that way to give them a minor humiliation conga.

@Crow it' just the issue of notibility that bugs me. One scene they ain't important enough to get a box seat, next, they're hosting the SECOND MOST IMPORTANT SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR!

What, does the person in charge of planning the party rotate every year and that year it was JS&UC's turn?

That's what I'm thinking. Or they weren't the hosts, but every major high society pony gets to invite X number of freinds and they wanted the privallige of saying Rarity was there guest.
