I just re-watched "The Best Night Ever".

Is it weird that I thought Fluttershy going insane was funny at first and now it's creepy?

If Celestia is supposed to be... well... A GOD Why does she have bodyguards? She's clearly going to be more competent than them if trouble comes a knockin'

I had the same problem when I heard that god in Christianity has bodyguards. Why?

Yeah, pretty much. They're probably just ceremonial. And just because Celestia doesn't need the protection doesn't mean that she wouldn't want a buffer zone between herself and everyone who wants to bother her.

When you're the ruler there are a lot of things you could do yourself that you have others to do for you. Like cooking, or cleaning. Celestia could take care of any assailants herself, but her position allows her to have bodyguards to take care of that for her.

Also, having a goddess take out anyone that attacks her could be a bit overkill.

Okay, I'm pretty familiar with theology, and angels are pretty much always messengers or servents of God, not bodyguards.

Anyway, back on topic:

Even if Celestia doesn't need the protection, there are still plenty of reasons she'd want to have guards.

Also, she wouldn't need to send Kratos to the moon. If there's any force in existence that can make Kratos stop killing stuff, it's this show.

I'd put even odds on Celestia versus Kratos. Celestia and Luna versus Kratos? No contest. To quote a comic I read at one point: I hear it's pretty hot on the sun this time of year.

Regarding why Nightmare Moon and Celestia looked the same in the book that opened Episode 1, I'd guess either in-universe Artistic License, in-universe myth slippage after a thousand years, or just a desire for symmetry in the presentation. I know Celestia would be around to correct any incorrect versions of the story, but it must still have been painful for her to talk about - and I doubt she'd have been eager to tell everyone about the evil that possessed her sister, especially if it's of the Eldritch Abomination persuasion.

All angels are militant to some degree, by virtue of being freakin' terrifying. Even cherubs are badasses.

They can be, but it's it's more of a "God sends them out to wreck everything" more than "bodyguard".

Anyway, Kratos wouldn't stand a chance against the Equestrian princesses. Their powers combined with the fact that Kratos would probably lose motivation to fight.

Yeah, the Greek pantheon had very specific powers. Celestia has straight, take-any-form magic on her side. It's hard to imagine Kratos getting anywhere close, even if he had a reason to go after her. Plus, she'd probably distract him with a bucket of water over the door, or something.

I once saw a fan comic where Celestia was sleeping with Kratos (it was totally SFW), so... that tells me how that would go.

And that's how the Flying Horned Centaurs were born.
