There aren't many male characters, but the ones that appear are usually decent enough characters. Only one so far was a love interest. Now if only male-dominated shows would do that with girls.
I was destroyed when I heard my sister asking for more romance in this show. Am I the only one who thinks that's a bad idea?

Now, while I'm not all that into shipping (detest it in fact) I am curious to see what would happen if some MLP same sex pairings became canon, I realised quickly that would never happen. Then I thought to myself..... why? Why can't we have a same sex couple in a kids show? Aren't we all about equality nowadays?

Then you'd have to have ten more opposite-sex pairings or the same-sex pairings would be overrepresented.
The Quiet One. No OTT. No unfunny. No squick. No crusades. Harmless and clean.
Even Archie comics have a gay character now. But I think if it got too romance-oriented, the show would be dull. Love is boring. Give me adventure!
You know I don't whant to see any gay paring onscren.
I don't even whant any paring on screen unless it about geting maried and having babies.
For me ponies in show view sex differently than humans as only thing related to deep love and creating family. That will more interesting.
For other relation I prefer friend love like Bromance, thats more interesting.
They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.

I already see Lyra/Bon Bon relations that way. (They are pony version of JD/Turk relations from Scrubs)

Something just occurred to me. Does the Apple family really live in a barn? It seems a little weird to me but I guess they are ponies after all.
It's pronounced "Te-ah-low-ve"
There's nothing wrong with gay relationships on TV. I agree, though, that Hasbro would never dare to do something like that - especially since its target audience wouldn't go in for romance of any kind, I would imagine. The character dynamic stands best as it is now.
^Apparently they do. Although only Applejack, Mac, Applebloom and Granny Smith live at Sweet Apple Acres, it seems.

I'm a college student! I don't have time for this!
This is my new WMG:
"Lauren steps from being in charge because she realisated that others could lead this show in better direction.
Most of fandom prefer
Slice of Life plot, many don't like much pilot episodes, only episodes writen by Lauren, some her ideas for show (like
Magical Girl stuff) are not thing what fandom whant. So she decided to let others to take charge and be only part of creative team for show what can be best for everypony. "
What do you think about that ?
