A great way to show RD's loyalty would be to use Gilda again. She should be ultimately loyal to ALL of her friends (even if their assholes), not just the Mane 6, and try to encourage them to change their ways

Well I like tomboys but TS is not tomboy. As for "Rainbow Dash is a lesbian" as allready somepony explain that not fair asuming that tomboy is automaticly gay. I also hate when some fans turn character into gay if there not any on screen evidence for homosexuality. And show is not sexist to males, they are all dumb or jerkasses, see Big Mac, Silver Star , Braburn and Spike. Main character are girls but that not mean that there are not inteligent and nice male secondary character. Also there are dumb and jerkass females.

There are fanasrt of Weepings Ponies, Whoof knows :) maybe every statue in show is Weeping Pony.

I just tend to dislike shipping in general. Especially when there's no cannon evidence.

Me to. Also I hate really wierd or disturbing parings and times when shipers go jihad on this.

• TS is not tomboy: She's bossy, very proactive, and highly intellectual. Not as stereotypically associated to masculinity as athletics and hard field work, but she's definitely much closer to traditional male roles than Fluttershy and Rarity, who are both so feminine in their own ways it almost breaks the scale.

• Big Mac, Silver Star (who the hell is that? the Thunderbolt who can only think of eating?), Braedburn (pretty cool guy) and Spike (he's, like, ridiculous... very cute, and a little above the Crusaders in terms of maturity, but... and he does stereotypical "see, girls, guys are bumbling" antics, such as his enthusiasm for the mustache... this reminds me of every time I try to show Gurren Lagann to girls and, save the strangest exception, they just don't get it).

Anyway, neither of them get anything awesome done: they're usually little more than plot devices and comic relief (even in the Comically Serious sense... Macintosh is hilarious).

It's implied that Big Mac can harvest twice as many apples as Applejack in about half the time without getting nearly as tired. If that ain't awesome i don't know what is

Silver Star is the sherrif in Over a Barrel IIRC. The Wonderbolt you're thinking of is Soarin.

they are not main characters, so they can' anything as awesome as Mane Six. I would hate to see that they add token guy into them just because to make some male do everything cool as Mane Cast do. Just because only female make all awesome stuff this not it bad (most time only male do this) especally if show is popular around adults males. Males in this show are not only plot devices or comic relief.

The question has come up several times about the characters' ages. I figure the have to be late teens; As shown in "The Ticket Master" Rarity's primary interest in attending the Gala was to take Celestia's nephew as a boyfriend and then marry him.

That in itself doesn't prove anything. Even young girls sometimes fantasize about marriage.

Especially marriage with a high-status, rich, noble, handsome stallion. Again, ME GUSTA.

The problem with the character's ages is that their social positions and personalities don't really match. They're mostly living on their own, and they all have jobs, so they'd probably be roughly college age by that standard. But then if you based it solely on personality, they act a lot younger. I'm pretty sure the age is ambiguous on purpose.

As for the whole "Rainbow Dash is a lesbian" thing, the issue wasn't really that people thought she was a lesbian, it was the fact that they were making the assumption that she was based on the rainbow thing and the fact that she was a tomboy; basically they envisioned her as not just a lesbian, but a lesbian stereotype. I'm pretty sure Faust said somewhere along the line that making the assumption that RD is a lesbian because she's a tomboy is unfair for both heterosexual tomboys and non-butch lesbians.

About shipping: it doesn't bother me too much, and as an author I actually find it interesting to think of stuff like "what would happen if these characters were a couple". But when people start getting militant about it or trying to claim their fan pairings as canon, it's incredibly annoying.

Also, season 2 needs more Big Macintosh, cause he's awesome.

Well, I have him with his eye on Zecora, but that's a fanfic and doesn't count.

Four of the mane cast have jobs: Applejack's a farmer, Rarity's a fashion designer, Fluttershy works with animals, and Dash works in weather control. Dash has graduated school, as was discussed in "Griffon the Brush-off." Twilight is akin to a college student. I have no idea what Pinkie Pie does. They generally live on their own.

Maybe this is mature as ponies get.

For comparison, in G1 there were Loving Family Ponies (scroll down). Moms were regular ponies and dads used the Big Brother molds, indicating those had always represented young adults.

That's how I'd always viewed it. She has such a natural talent in magic that she's undertaking a level of studies that most other ponies never take part in. And yeah, Pinkie works at the bakery with the Cakes.

Yes, I beleive TS is a grad student studying for a Masters in Magic. Which makes we wish that we could see her as an undergrad in a flash back.

Also, would it be fair to say that Fluttershy is a fully trained veterinarian? In a Bird In The Hoof, she eventually broke out the surgical equipment. I'd like to think that isn't just a gag, and she really knows what she's doing.

I'd think so, although I can't really see Fluttershy doing anything surgical because I can't imagine her reaction well to blood. Although I suppose it's possible.

She seems to be more like a carer for animals. She offers them medicine, herbal remedies and looks after them during recovery, but doesn't actually operate surgically (she's not dexturous enough for one)

The surgical tools could be for really quick procedures, not long drawn out operations

Flutershy is kind of character who become badass when someone life is in danger. So she can be cool even when everyone else freak out because of blood gore.
