Please don't start.
I have a persoanl HATRED of superior younger siblings.

I don't see how Magic is the strongest element, or how ANY of them could be considered stronger. They don't do ANYTHING unless they are used together. The only difference between magic and the others is that you have to get a group of friends together to make it appear, therefore causing everyone involved to
learn a lesson.

Then how about this?
Luna isn't stronger than Celestia.
But Nightmare Moon
is.
Whatever those dark powers she gathered were, it granted her power like unto Discord.

I have a message from another time...
Where was it said that Celestia used the Elements on Luna? She shouldn't have been able to use them at all by herself...
@Ginger: You have a bad habit of ordering people to not share their opinions. Please don't do that.

The intro to the first episode, man.

The shape, yes. But I doubt she took on the same power she had as the real Nightmare Moon.

@Enlong: To clarify, I didn't think you were wrong, I just don't see how it makes sense. I think the show made an error...

I don't think it would screw up the lore of the Elements in the same episode that introduced them. I think, perhaps, the reason Celestia was only able to banish Luna instead of cleansing her was
because she was wielding them all alone. The thing with having Twilight find the elements with her friends was so that she'd be able to use them at their fullest potential.

Ah, so it was the power of
the darkness in her heart.

Faust implied there was some sort of outside force that caused her to change, stating that her transformation wasn't exactly her fault.

@Enlong: No. Because I think that whole story is much more effective if it's clear that Celestia beating Luna doesn't matter. She could kick NM around all day and it still wouldn't make her lower the moon, it would only rob her of her beloved sister.
Beating her doesn't matter. That hypothesis only works if Celestia can beat NM by herself

Here's another reason: I don't like show offs to be the stronger ones. The one who uses LESS power in my mind is he stronger one

And I think it's an interesting story if banishing Luna was the only thing she could
do, using the Elements all alone, and that she spent the next millenium looking for people who would be able to use them at their fullest and save her sister, so that she wouldn't have to do that again.

But you love Trixie? I don't even know.
but again, I don't think that Magic is the "strongest" element. They certainly don't make any claims of that in-story...

@Enlong but that's what I mean, Using the elements or killing her sister are the only two options in my eyes.

Yes. She didn't want to give up on her sister.
Also, there
was the fact that Nightmare Moon kidnapped(?) Celestia during her return.

Is there anything wrong with not wanting one of your favourite characters to be a pathetic weakling who could be bested by a casual cough from her younger sister?
