What I have to wonder is why the prince drank the love poison if he already loved the princess or whatever.
Come to think of it, I don't buy a city falling in that manner (at least in terms of being destroyed)
Assuming a dragon did attack, victims of the potion have shown that they ARE willing to seperate from each other in the name of doing something for their partner. If a dragon attacked, his wife would be in danger. Wouldn't he be willing to seperate from her to protect her?

Maybe the potion only works when two people drink it? When Big M and Cheer drank the stuff, they each burped out half of a broken heart which then merged

The point though, is that they ignore everything outside of the one they're made to fall in love with. As long as they weren't in direct and immediate danger, they would be perfectly fine with everything crumbling and burning around them.

But you'd think some of the prince's advisors would notice and exploit it. Maybe by intentionally putting the prince's wife in danger?
Then again, they could've just as easily kicked him off the throne. The story don't make much sense when you stop to think about it

Maybe the dragon ate one of them and an hour later the poison wore off.
So what was Rarity and Spike up to? I wanted to know!

She wouldn't care about the throne, would she? You just said it yourself, nothing else would matter to them but each other

then my point about one of them reacting to danger if it puts their partner in jeapordy still stands.

Wait! How weak is this Alicorn princess?
She succumbed to a love potion. A love potion that can easily be made by three fillies in a tree house. Would it work on Celestia?

My main question: Would it work on Celestia?
Plus, for god tier beings like Alicorns seem to be, Magic Strength and Magic Defense seem to go hand in hand

There's no reason to believe it wouldn't.
I don't see why Celestia would be immune to magical attacks or other similar things.

I don't believe the princess in the story was an alicorn, no.
Can you think inside the chimney?
It was probably a story from the pre-Equestrian era.

I am in fact awesome.
Because the idea that a GOD PRINCESS who can casually purge an entire town of a curse cast by the strongest unicorn who's ever lived can be sruck down by someone throwing a tuft of Poison Joke is just... PATHETIC!!

In the picture in the book, the princess had both wings and a horn.
