Here's something I'm curious about how did Snips and Snails get there cutie marks before the CMC. Also, can you have your cutie mark stripped if you commit some especially heinous crime? Seems Celestia or Luna could do that given their power and position as God-Empresses.

I still like to speculate that we(the audience) do know how the CMC will get their cutie marks (The Show Stoppers episode) but we have to watch the characters themselves come at this realization.

There's no evidence that cutie marks control any of those things.

Personally, I don't think they have any significance beyond what the ponies themselves think of them.

I wonder why Luna had to be chucked to the moon in the first place. Shouldn't the elements have purified her back then? Though it's possible that she actually wasn't since she wielded at least some of the elements herself and Celestia just banished her.

@Arha possible reasons:

1.) Celestia was using the elements all alone, so she couldn't harness their full power.
2.) In Return Of Harmony, Celestia mentioned that the mane cast harnessed the full power of the elements to purify Luna. Implying that they can use the elements in ways that Luna and Celestia couldn't.

I think I'm just going to say that since Celestia didn't wield all the elements, it only destroyed/severed the corrupting factor and then sent Luna to the moon. However, the damage wasn't undone by this.
